A mag evolves only at the moment you feed it, and only if that feed leaves it at a qualifying level. From level 50 on it has to land exactly on a multiple of five — a feed that carries it from 49 straight to 51 skips the level-50 evolution and it waits for 55. A mag can evolve four times in all; after that it keeps growing but stops changing shape.

• Highest stat means POW, DEX or MIND — DEF is never the deciding stat, though it does count toward the level, and it matters for Forces and for rare mags.
• Stats are compared as the whole numbers the game shows you, so a mag at 5.99 POW counts as 5.
• The level-100 rare evolution is checked before the ordinary one. If it fires you get the rare mag instead of the normal result for that level, so nothing is lost by trying.
• A mag picks up a Photon Blast the moment you evolve into a mag that grants one, and it can hold three at most — once all three are full, evolving into a mag with a fourth gains you nothing. So the path you take decides which blasts you finish with, and about half of all mags grant none at all. Where a mag grants one it's named under it below, and the table further down says what each of the six actually does.

Level 10 — Varuna Your class alone decides this one. Every Hunter gets the same mag, whatever you have been feeding it.

Level 100 or higher — Deva The rare evolution for a male Hunter on Viridia.

Deva — at any evolution level from 100 on, but only if your stats balance exactly: POW + MIND = DEF + DEX Whole levels, and it must be exact — one point out and you get the ordinary result for that level instead. Which rare mag you can reach is set by your Section ID and by your class being male; both are fixed at character creation, so a Deva means starting the right character.

Photon Blasts — and which mags hand them out The other way round from the tables above: if you're after a particular blast, these are the mags that grant it. Fixed for everyone, so nothing here changes with the class and Section ID.
